Never invent a number
If a report line has no figure, we show zero — we do not produce an estimate. Missing data beats wrong data. A user must always be able to ask where a number came from.
DRM Budget did not come from a software company deciding to “enter the hotel market”. It came out of the budgeting and reporting process inside a hotel.
This began with a frustration that repeated every year: budget season arrives, spreadsheets go out to departments, the returns get merged, formulas get checked, and when the consolidated figure does not tie, the whole thing starts again.
Looking at the planning tools on the market, they fell into two camps: either general enough to fit every industry and therefore fitting a hotel not at all, or enterprise systems so heavy that onboarding took months and no department head could be handed one.
That gap was the opportunity. A platform that knows the hotel’s own concepts, works with USALI, and is still light enough for a department head to use. DRM Budget was built on that idea and matured on real hotel data, through real budget cycles.

Our screens are not flashy. A finance screen is somewhere people stare at for six hours a day; what helps there is legibility and speed, not colour and animation.
A user sees only the data they are authorised for. When a new screen ships, the default is not “open to everyone” but “closed to everyone”.
Most of our roadmap comes from the hotels using it. A problem solved for one customer becomes standard for everyone else facing the same thing.
